Thank you Beau for demonstrating how we can use your scripts to trace volume ROIs, rotate the volumes to the desired planes, and reslice the data to generate slice based ROI measures. For those of you who would like to try these procedures in the safety of your own office Beau was kind enough to put his 3 scripts in \\Broca\docs\manuals\ROI_Club. We have also added the STG segmentation manual prepared by Guido Gerig's group, as well as an introduct document containing a brief description of how to get started with IRIS, prepared by Raj, to that same directory.

Next Friday, March 21st , we will have an ROI drawing contest, or show off. We have selected some of the most comonly traced regions here at BIAC, and a few volunteers who will do a live demo. The resulting ROIs will be saved, sopeople can go back and examine them or discuss them. We thought that the regions would include the STG (Kevin, Beau, Gunes, Raj), MFG (Scott, Ayse, Chuck, Raj), Amygdala (Lihong), IFG (Chuck E., Ayse), Caudate and BG structures (Paul K., Seniha). We thought that we get started next week, and go at it for about 1 hour, and see how far we get. Each person will use their weapon of choice to draw the ROIs. We also decided that we would use that time to go over the posters and talks that will be presented at various meetings in the beginning of April. This would give people enough time to integrate feedback, get acquainted with each other's material, etc.. I am aware of at least 2 conferences that we will be attending as BIAC researchers, i.e. the CNS (Cognitive Neuroscience Society) and ICOS (International Congress on Schizophrenia Research), which are conveniently scheduled to take place at the exact same time so that those of us who would want to attend both cannot do so .

Finally, we also discussed going over the acquisition protocols that various groups use, and how these series are loaded to enable optimal ROI tracing. This could be discussed during the ROI tracing or could be added to the topic for a following week.

P.S. I really like these smilies..
