Dear BIAC users, Currently BIAC provides two types of on-line data storage: temporary and semi-permanent. Users who wish to provide their own data storage, can have their data reconstructed, transferred, and temporarily stored on our servers. From there, users can ftp data to their local computers. Users who are interested in more permanent storage services, can opt to purchase a given amount of storage space on BIAC servers. Please contact me directly for terms and rates.
In the past we have not strictly enforced limits on the amount of temporary storage available to users. However, with the increasing number of experiments, we must limit temporary storage to 5G per experiment. The PI of the protocol and the user who attempted to transfer the data will receive warning emails when an experiment is at 75%, 90%, and 95% capacity. When the 5G limit has been reached, users will not be able to create or transfer any additional data, until the older data has been removed. This will cause a delay in the receiving your data, but will not result in the data being deleted or lost.
As always, all raw data is backed up with our tape robot and can be restored, if needed.
If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please do not hesitate to contact me. |
