Dear BIAC Users, The medical center is in the process of replacing all of the Blue Card readers with readers that will read HID proximity chips via your Duke ID Card. Although BIAC would rather keep the system as is, the Blue Card readers in the Bell Building are scheduled to be replaced any day now.
While Duke ID cards can be made to come with an HID chip, not all IDs have one. To verify that your Duke Card has an HID chip, look for a small blue HID logo on the back of the card. If your Duke Card does not have an HID chip and you would like access to the bell building after hours or on the weekend, you will need to obtain a new ID card with an HID chip. These can be obtained at the Duke card offices for a $10 fee.
Once you have a Duke ID Card with an HID chip, send the HID number to Francis. The HID number is located on the back of the ID card; it's the first 5 digits in the lower right corner.
The blue card readers at the MR scanners are also scheduled to be replaced, however, the date when this will take place has not been established. |
