With partial support from an NCRR Shared Instrumentation Grant, the BIAC has recently purchased an IBM pSeries 670 server with a FAStT 700 disk subsystem. Our p670 will have sixteen 64-bit Power4 processors and 64 GB total system RAM. The system will run both AIX and Linux operating systems simultaneously. The FAStT disk subsystem provides 1.3 terabytes of storage connected via 2 Gbps Fibre Channel connections. It will be connected to the BIAC network via dual gigabit Ethernet adapters. Computing resources will be available to all collaborating investigators. We anticipate delivery and setup in about one month's time.
