The BIAC graduate fMRI course (NBIO 381) will be taught again this fall. It will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30pm-6:30pm in the BIAC analysis laboratory (Bell 251).
The course covers all aspects of functional magnetic resonance imaging, from its basic principles in physics, engineering, biophysics, and physiology; through computational, analytic, and signal processing issues; to its applications in neurobiology and cognitive neuroscience. The course will consist of weekly lectures and integrated laboratory sessions. Lectures will be given by BIAC faculty, and will incorporate primary readings in the field to encourage discussion. The laboratory sessions will involve analysis of fMRI data sets that illustrate issues discussed in the lectures. Students will gain experience both in the theoretical principles of fMRI and in the practical aspects of experimental design and data analysis.
Graduate and Medical students may take the course for credit, and other members of the Duke and UNC imaging communities may audit the course. Permission of the course director is required for registration/auditing.
Please contact the course director, Scott Huettel (scott.huettel@duke.edu), with any questions about the course.

The first meeting of the BIAC graduate course will be on Wednesday, August 27, at 3:30pm-6:30pm. Graduate students are welcome to take the course for credit (although only a few slots are left), and others may audit the course. Note that no external book will be used, and all readings will be provided.
If you would like to audit the course, please contact me (scott.huettel@duke.edu) immediately, if you have not already done so. Auditors will be held to the same standards as students (i.e., they will do all of the labs). |
