We have a problem with the headphones at 4T. Due to this we stopped scanning our subjects. When we ran a subject last week the subject said that he could only hear the tones in one ear although they were being sent in stereo. The sound controller display showed that they were in-fact being sent to both ears, however the subject could only hear them in one.

We know that new headphone are ordered. We would like to know when they are coming. Could you please inform us about this?

Thank you.

Hi,

While running subjects in our lab, we have noticed quite a few problems with the headphones on the 4T as well- that overall the sounds were not loud enough, and that they seemed to be louder on one side than on the other. There are a couple of things that, while not solving the problem, may help a bit.

First, you can check the settings on the soundcard for the stimulus computer. There is a small yellow speaker in the system tray, and double clicking it will bring up a mixer with balance (R/L) sliders and volume sliders.

Second, there is another mixer that most people do not know about, that comes bundled with the sound card. If you open up
Start->Programs and look for a folder having to do with the soundcard, there is another mixer with a much more fancy graphical interface.

Finally, you can use an additional command to attenuate the sounds in the louder ear, as suggested in this thread.

Hope these work for you in the mean time,

Ken
