Last week while I was running a pilot subject I could only get one button to register a response, the one second in from the left. On the first day I was using the first and second buttons but it seems that the first button can stick, so I moved it to be the second two buttons. Has anyone else had problems with that button box?

Also, I need sound in my experiment to come through the headphones in the scanner and apparently my subject did not hear anything. I had the volume on the computer set to max but do not know how to make sure that the sound is coming out. Do other amplifiers need to be turned on in order for the sound to come out of the 4T headphones?

Thanks
-Laura

Update: Went over with Imran and was able to fix sound and button box.

1) For the sound to work the Radio Shack black box to the left of Darwin needs to be on and channel number 2 needs to be selected. Also, the Audio Input Selection box needs to be turned on, and turned off when you're done using it.

2) For the four-button joystick button box the joystick button has been disabled, so the mapping of the four buttons is just 1, 2, 3, 4. Button 1 is sticky so I would recommend not using that button if possible.

I had a subject yesterday who mentioned that he could only hear sound out of one side of the headphones in the 4T. The tech increased the volume to max, but this did not fix the problem.

I usually test the sound before running the subject to make sure it is coming out of both headphones. If it is only coming out of one, I turn off the amplifier and then turn it back on. If that doesn't work I check the wires on the back of the headphone RadioShack black box, which usually fixes it. For Darwin the channel has to be set to "2", so I will change that and then reset it to 2. So I just try everything until it works, and usually after a few minutes it will.
