I'm missing .hdr files in some of my preprocessing files. THis is a problem for anyone using programs that require these header files, such as SPM.

For every subject I've preprocessed since January 24, bputil only produces .hdr files for the arun files; the rarun, ncrarun, and sncrarun files do not have .hdr files. The same thing is happening for all of the exams that other people in our lab have preprocessed since around mid January.

The exams I processed in December did produce .hdr files for all the above mentioned file types.

Is there an easy way to create these files?

In golgi, type bxh2analyze. This will call directions for how to use this program along with all associated options.

I realize that bxh2analyze can be used to make .hdr files, but this seems like a less than efficient solution to what should be a trivial task – writing out the .hdr files. SPM and Brain Voyager both employ .hdr files as do most of the available analysis tools. I ask bputil to write the .hdr files and it does so in a hit or miss fashion! This is rather annoying as it causes one to have to rerun 5 out of 7 bputil jobs and doesn’t really make much sense given the sporadic symptom. Can we make the default to simply write the .hdr files with the .img files or figure out why bputil does not write the .hdr files when specifically asked to do so (i.e., when the write .hdr file option is toggled to “true”)?

Hey Kevin,

So you've run bputil on the same dataset multiple times and it sometimes produces .hdr files and sometimes doesn't? Or is it that it produces .hdr files on some datasets but not others? Email me the dataset (ExperimentName, ExamNumber) for which bputil doesn't write out .hdr files and I'll take a look. Also please include the Instruction Set you used.

Cheers,
Jimmy

Found a bputil bug. Previously, if you didn't select 'Select Processing Preferences' and at least enter the sub-menu (you don't even have to select any of the toggle options), the options will not have been initialized to the default values. I can't say for sure that this is what Kevin did, but looking at both shell scripts for the dataset Kevin had sent me, I found that one has '--save' enabled and that the other doesn't.

I'm hoping that the above bug fix solved the problem. Please re-post if you continue to see these problems.

I am starting to see this same problem again... Did something recently change to bring this back up?

Kevin, bputil has not changed since that bug fix. Whenever changes have been made to the program, you'll see a change in the version number that displays when bputil starts up.
