A couple of weeks ago, I went on a site visit to Cornell to see (among other things) their scanner set-up. Though they were somewhat comparable, they had one thing that I think would benefit the Duke scanners: A camera in the console room that would allow the person in the scanner to see the experimenters and communicate face-to-face (virtually) if necessary. I've heard that there are a number of other sites that do this, and anecdotal evidence suggests that such a system helps to cut down on feelings of claustrophobia as well as boredom. I think that this would make a benefical, low cost addition to the 0T, 1.5T and 4T scanners.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Simon

I can see the advantages of this and it would actually be quite easy to do, given our video switching setup. I'll look into this.

It seems that this could be integrated in to any of our experimental suites using the expandability that Jim built in. If anyone has any suggestions for a small, sturdy camera that would likely be helpful. The camera would need to have composite output (like a VCR) and everything could be converted from there.
