Dear all,

Does anyone know why the Talairach Demon at our BIAC \\Program\Talairach does not work now? The error message is: unable to start the application--The Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded. Class not registered.

Thanks.

I tried to open Pick Atlas, as it has the Talairach Demon in it, and I am getting an error on that as well:

??? Error: File: \\Gall\Programs\MATLAB\spm2\toolbox\WFU_PickAtlas\wfu_pickatlastype.m Line: 24 Column: 26
"SelectedAtlasType" was previously used as a variable,
conflicting with its use here as the name of a function.

Error in ==> wfu_pickatlas>Initialize at 92
handles.SelectedAtlasType=wfu_pickatlastype;

Error in ==> wfu_pickatlas at 20
Initialize(fig, [], handles, varargin{:})

So my issue seems to be an incompatibility between Matlab 7.0 and the version of Pick Atlas on Gall. Could we update Pick Atlas pls? http://www.ansir.wfubmc.edu/download.htm

We also need to update SPM2 to be able to work with that latest version: ftp://ftp.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm/spm2_updates/

thanks,
Melissa

I updated our installation of SPM2 and the WFU PickAtlas. See this post for more information. The atlas should now work with MATLAB 7.

Enjoy,
Chuck

it seems like the talairach demon itself is still not working. Also, could someone post (very general) directions on how to use Pick Atlas, I'm not familiar with the program.

Hi Michele,

Pick Atlas is pretty easy. Make sure you have a path to the SPM directory on Gall in your Matlab paths. At a Matlab prompt, type "WFU_pickatlas". A GUI will come up, and you can type in Talairach co-ordinates and convert them to MNI, plus get some labels (although I always seem to get vague things like "white matter"....). There's a User's Guide at http://www.ansir.wfubmc.edu/downloads/WFU_PickAtlas_User_Manual.pdf for more detailed instructions, especially how it interacts with SPM.

Hope this helps,
Melissa

There is also a copy of the user's manual in our local installation:
