I need to add a toolbox (really just a few .p files) to matlab but since I cannot modify the Matlab directory on this machine I am unsure on how to do this. thanks

I'm guessing you meant .m files, not .p files.
Did the following not work?:
>> addpath('\\Place\where\the\toolbox\is\installed');
You could also add the previous line to your startup.m file in your user directory (U:\casp).
