Or is it just me?

Should be fixed as of earlier today.

Is it possible to update BIAC's X-win license? X-win at BIAC now launches in demo mode and quits after 30 min. Thanks,

Francis helped me to get this resolved (thanks Francis!) but I wanted to post a few more details of the error - because it could happen to others.

I started with version 9.4 of X-Win32, and everything worked fine until the beginning of this year, when it gave me the error message above. Thinking that I needed to update the license, I first tried re-adding the license, which didn't work.

I then looked more closely at the instructions in the license text from OIT. In the text it instructs to go to the company website and enter the license to update. This is exactly what I did - the update worked and I got some version of X-Win32 2010.

However, this version didn't work with Duke's license. I had to go back to OIT's software download page and download version 9.5 (I was originally using 9.4) and this version did work with the license.

Best,

Vanessa

Folks,

If you are not at BIAC, you can download the Duke license from OIT using your NetID.

I'm having this same problem too. The first error message I received was as follows:

nedit: the current locale is utf8 (en_US.UTF-8)
nedit: changed locale to non-utf8 (en_US)
Xlib: connection to "localhost:16.0" refused by server
Xlib: The server is not licensed
NEdit: Can't open display

So I figured that we had something new that I needed to re-initialize for 2010. I went to OIT, re-obtained the license key, put it in, still didn't fix it.

So I went to http://www.starnet.com/support/upgrade.php and inserted the old license to download the updated software. Now I have Win-32 2010 (with the most hideous start up screen you've ever seen!) and I re-entered the license key - it doesn't take, same error message.

What should I do?

Many thanks,

Vanessa

Should be OK now.
