Hi,
I have a bunch of files that - no matter how I delete them (I've tried on Mac, Windows, via qinteract on Hugin) they reappear at 3:40 AM.
This is mostly true in Imagene.01 for me.
Happy to point people to the files off of the forum...
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks,
John

I've been having the same problem on Munin, but I don't think I've tested it quite as thoroughly as John has at this point. Mine were re-appearing at 3:20am a couple of months ago (currently trying it again right now). I'm not sure how any of these files could've been open on any machine when I deleted them; I can't think of any external process that I have control over that would be responsible for this.

Thanks!
David

i checked to see if you have any files open on all the cluster nodes, which you only did through your current job.

on any linux system you can what files you have open with "lsof"

as francis mentioned these could be stuck open on another machine, which would prevent you from removing them. lsof will only work on the machine that they are open on.

can you send me a link to one of the files?

Hi,
I have deleted these files multiple times and from multiple different computers and nodes. I'm not sure what external process could be locking them?
Yes, they get a new date every time they reappear, so right now they say "Yesterday, 3:40 AM".
Thanks,
John

Snapshots would not cause files to "reappear." All snapshots exist only under the ~snapshot (or .snapshot) directory. Either the files are being recreated by some external process, or they are not being deleted (probably because they are locked open by some external process). Do the files get a new date every time they reappear?

hey john, thats around the time of the auto-snapshots on munin ... you may want to send francis the name of a file so he can look into it.
