I am having difficulty running spm5 on golgi from one of the workstations in my office. I had no problems with it yesterday. The error message that I am receiving is:

Initialising SPM..??? Error using ==> spm
Can't open any graphics windows...

Error in ==> /home/kozink/net/gall/programs/MATLAB/spm5/spm.m
On line 507 ==> WS = spm('WinScale'); %-Window scaling factors

Error in ==> /home/kozink/net/gall/programs/MATLAB/spm5/spm.m
On line 469 ==> Fmenu = spm('CreateMenuWin','off'); fprintf('.');

I have my x-win session running, matlab is running, and I have added the path to spm5. I logged-off of everything and restarted, but I am still receiving the error. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Are you selecting the "golgi" profile to initiate the connection to golgi (and make sure X-win32 is running)? I can't think of any other reason...

I am getting an empty result. I have tried closing my golgi session and my x-win session and launching new ones, but I'm still getting an empty result.

If you type:
echo $DISPLAY
on golgi you should get something like "localhost:11.0". If it says it's undefined or you get an empty result, then tunneling didn't happen...

I can not run any other graphical application. However, I checked my SSH golgi profile and X11 tenneling is enabled.

I suspect your X tunneling is not working. Can you run
any other graphical application from golgi? Like xclock
or nedit? Make sure you have enabled X11 tunneling in
your SSH golgi profile as shown here:
