I have been reminded that CIGAL has a problem decompressing color PCX files that have an odd number of pixels horizontally. This is an old bug that I have tried unsuccessfully to fix several times. I apologize for the problem but point out that it goes away if you avoid images with odd pixel widths (odd heights are okay). I read a problem image into Photoshop, left off 1 pixel on the right side and wrote it back out and it worked fine.

The next release of CIGAL will (hopefully) have this fixed, and will also be able to read and write JPEG files to provide more flexibility. But please avoid odd widths in the meantime.

Sorry about that. Knowing there is an easy workaround makes fixing it a lower priority, but that only works if everyone knows the problem and workaround.

Jim
