There have been a few changes to the MRI simulator and behavioral testing setup lately. Let me know if you have any additional suggestions and I will try to implement them the next time I make another round of revisions.

Just as a reminder, if you are interested in using the MRI simulator and have not already attended a training session, please email me (mailto:mack@biac.duke.edu) and I will schedule a brief session.

HeadTrack v1.4
I have incorporated several requests in to the newest version of the head tracking software:
Enhanced logging - The software now logs every head position data point, rezeroing, starting logging, ending logging, DVD stop for movement outside threshold, DVD start after an automatic stop. The relative time starts over each time logging begins again and at the time logging begins there is a date/time stamp. Also the data is in a format that can now be read using the MATLAB "load" command.
Plotting improvements - The movement plotting window now has more readable type on the axes and the lines are thicker.
Polhemus Fastrak initialiazation - After long periods of non-use one would occasionally have to connect to the Fastrak using HyperTerminal, bang on the enter key repeatedly, type "P", then magically things would work again. This has now been incorporated into a somewhat more graceful MATLAB function, "initializeFastrak()" that is called automatically at startup.

USB Connection
There is now a USB connection available at the opening of the MRI simulator bore. You can plug any USB 1.1 compliant human interface device in to here (as long as it is not a big current draw) and it should work without having to do rewiring on the computer. This means the person in the simulator can have an additional keyboard or mouse connected to the stimulus computer if the investigator brought one of these. There is no button box replica available right now, but with a trip to RadioShack and some time in the electronics shop one could create one. (I have seen all the parts to build one of these either at the Duke surplus yard or in a trash can at one time or another)

Rewiring
The area behind the MRI simulator frame has been cleaned up and the wires run in a more logical fashion. If you are looking for any of the various boxes that contain the electronics, they are located on a shelf directly below the gradient coil.

Behavioral testing/Eye tracking
The eye tracking devices currently are in a suboptimal arrangement, so it would be best to hold off on eye tracking studies for the time being. We are working on an arrangement that will allow for the most accurate and reliable eye tracking possible. There are also a keyboard and 2 USB ports located in the behavioral testing area to allow for recording of responses.
