We have found the following to be useful, others might as well:

www.psychtoolbox.org

It is essentially some mexfiles for Matlab that enable one to use matlab to control the hardware for accurate timing, video display, etc.

In conjuction with an activeX control, we have implemented a joystick as well.

The Mac version seems better supported than the Windows version, but most things are implemented in Windows.

Has anyone worked with "spriteworld2"? The link on the psychtoolbox webpage doesn't work (rather, I can't seem to get it to work) and I haven't been able to find where to download the library on line.

Or if there's a better program I should use, what is it? All I want to do is make one of the graphics on the screen move around the screen. Everything else stays still.

Thanks.
Dharol
