The problem of certain pcx files not being displayed properly in Cigal paradigms had come up a few times. The reason for this is that certain kinds of non standard PCX files need to have a multiple of 4 for their width (in pixels). So in case you experience this problem, you can view the image size in Adobe Photoshop and change the value of the width if needed.

We have also put in a feature in the Cigal menu (accessible from Display -> View PCX Image) that lets you view the pcx image directly in Cigal. Similarly, in order to test whether your avi files are fine, you could select Display -> View AVI Movie in Cigal.
