There is one other issue we've been having with Cigal, usually by run 5 (of 10 runs) the displayed font will change. First in the pop-up windows, but then also in what is actually displayed on the screen for the participant. The problem is always solved by quiting and restarting cigal and typically won't happen again during the remaining runs.

The new version of CIGAL has implemented software fonts, in addition to the system's default fonts (which was all you could use in the old version). The software fonts work, and allow you to specify font type and size independently for example, but we are still sorting out the best way to make these fonts easy to specify in PPF files. Presumably your font instability issue is related to these changes. I discovered part of this problem on Tuesday when we installed the new version, and put in a quick fix (?), but obviously it was not enough. I suspect that the problem is that the font numbering in PPF files needs to be changed slightly; this would account for differences in how some fonts appear since last week, but I don't understand why the fonts should spontaneously change during a session.

Michele, could you send me the names (and locations) of the PPF files you are having trouble with so that we can try to isolate the instability problem?

As soon as we have a simple mechanism for specifying font parameters in paradigm files I'll post instructions here.

thanks,
Jim
