Posted - Dec 01 2008 : 3:30:57 PM I have created a new version of CIGAL (CIGAL5) that now appears to work on any Windows system. Version 5 runs without using Microsoft's DirectDraw interface, which was what causes the earlier version to crash in real-time mode. I have tested the new version on BIAC's Dimension computers in the big lab with no problems. It should also work with Windows Vista but I don't have a Vista system to test it on.
To use the new version, copy the following shortcut to your folder: \\Gall\Programs\CIGAL\CurrentVersion\StartCIGAL5
I have not finished some of the real-time graphics functions (drawing dots or circles) and the Create AVI command probably won't work, but the basic Showplay operations seem okay. I do not recommend using CIGAL5 at the scanners yet, but if you have a situation where the old version doesn't work, try this new one.
Please send me feedback if you find problems.

Posted - Jan 07 2009 : 12:51:13 PM The problem was in creating a new CIGAL5 shortcut, rather than simply copying the StartCIGAL5 shortcut already there. When you create a new shortcut, the default behavior in Windows is to run the program it points to in the program's own folder, not in the folder where the shortcut is located. By opening the shortcut's properties and clearing the "Start in" entry, the shortcut works as intended.

Posted - Jan 07 2009 : 12:39:09 PM When I copy a shortcut to Cigal5 to my experiment directory and run it, I get this warning: "Running in write-protected CIGAL directory. Change directory before running Showplay", and I am unable to load a ppf file. |
